چکیده
Oil spillage is one of the common pollution events global water-soil ecosystems. A comprehensive investigation on heavy metals surface water and sediments was conducted after oil spill incident in Sela River its tributaries Sundarbans mangrove forest ecosystems, Bangladesh. Water sediment samples were collected from preselected sampling points River, elemental (Pb, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Ni, Fe, As, Hg, Mn, Zn, Ca, Mg, Na, K) analysis done using atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS). This study revealed that descending order for average concentration studied elements found to be Mg > Co Na Ni K Ca Pb Fe Mn Cr Cd Zn Cu respectively, while As Hg below detection limit (BDL). However, some toxic exceeded permissible set by World Health Organization (WHO) with a respectively. Based quality index (WQI), metal (MPI), (MI), not suitable drinking but may used irrigating agricultural vegetable crops. On other hand, following Several assessment indices: contamination factor (Cf), degree (Cd), modified (mCd), load (PLI), enrichment (EF), geo-accumulation (Igeo) indices followed assess systems area. Considering indices, this river had higher (Cf) values moderate Pb, low K. Among metals, content highest both samples, which confirming insoluble or suspended form, more likely strongly deposited bound water. Principal component correlation analyses suggested sources mainly anthropogenic along geogenic

Background and Purpose: The contamination by potentially toxic element (PTE) is a common environmental issue in worldwide rivers. The present study examined PTEs concentration in sediments of Talar River which is one of the main rivers in the Sothern Caspian Basin. Materials and Methods: The sediment samples (n= 44) were collected from top 0–5 cm of surface sediment in the main channel and flo...
متن کاملHeavy metals contamination in water and sediments of an urban river in a developing country
Water and sediment samples were collected from 20 location of the Buriganga river of Bangladesh during Summer and Winter 2009 to determine the spatial distribution, seasonal and temporal variation of different heavy metal contents. Sequential extraction procedure was employed in sediment samples for the geochemical partitioning of the metals. Total trace metal content in water and sediment samp...
متن کاملAssessment of Heavy Metals Pollution in Water and Sediments of Djendjen River, North Eastern Algeria
Water and sediment samples have been collected from five different stations, located along Djendjen River between February and June, 2016 so that the concentrations of Cd, Ni, Zn, and Cu could be determined. The extent of the sediment pollution has been assessed, using the multiple pollution indices, namely Contamination Factor (CF), Pollution Load Index (PLI), and the geoaccumulation index (Ig...
